All suspected incidences of sheep scab must be reported to Leitrim County Council Veterinary Department. The Veterinary Officer will examine all such cases and determine the presence of scab by clinical examination or microscopic examination of wool samples. Movement restrictions will be placed on the affected flock until the disease has abated and neighbouring farmers will be notified. Farmers are strongly urged to undertake routine annual dipping of their flocks to prevent this highly contagious disease.
