Amendment to Student Grant Maintenance Rates in line with Budget 2012

A reduction of 3% is being applied to the rates of student maintenance grants in line with Budget 2012. The reduction will be implemented to all existing and new grant holders from January 2012. Please click here to view the amended grant rates effective from January 2012.

Closing date for receipt of completed application forms is 31st August 2011.

Where to Apply

New applications should be made to Leitrim County Council in respect of attendance on an approved course in one of the following institutions in the 2011/12 academic year;

• a university
• a prescribed educational institution in Ireland (for example a college of education)
• an approved undergraduate course in an approved educational institution in the EU
• an approved postgraduate course in an approved education institution in Northern Ireland

Application forms must be completed in full and submitted with all the required documentation with the exception of the Final Course Acceptance Form which can be submitted at a later stage

Final Course Acceptance Forms:

FA1 for undergraduate or postgraduate course in Ireland or

SA1 for undergraduate course in EU Member States

The documentary evidence required is clearly described in each section of the Guidance Notes which accompany the form. Failure to provide the necessary documents will delay processing of your application.

Eligibility

The annual Student Grant Scheme lays down certain conditions which must be fulfilled in order to be eligible for a grant.  As part of the overall student grants reform programme, a single unified grant scheme has been introduced to cover all study from PLC through to postgraduate levels. The student grant scheme for 2011/12 is now governed by:

• The Student Support Act 2011

• The Student Support Regulations 2011

• The Student Grant Scheme 2011
