Local Agenda 21 Funding for Community Environmental Groups 2011

The Local Agenda 21 Environmental Partnership Fund promotes sustainable development by assisting small scale, non-profit environmental projects at local level.  A 2011 allocation of €12,000 is available to community or voluntary groups for environmental projects in county Leitrim.

A wide variety of innovative and exciting projects and schemes have been supported to date under the Fund.  These range from eco walks at Lough Allen and Biodiversity survey & exhibition in Drumshambo.

Community gardens and Habitat development as well as composting workshops have also been supported under the Fund.  Drumcong N.S developed an Outdoor Nature Classroom.

Other projects included workshops on sustainability and guides for the development of allotments. An environmental information pack for new home builders and a Renewable Energy Tour have also been developed.

What types of projects are eligible? 
Projects should focus on environmental awareness and action, which complement national environmental policies such as those on Waste, Biodiversity, Water Conservation and Climate Change.
