Leitrim County Development Board commenced the implementation of the Strategy in June 2002. This involved using a Project Management approach on all projects within the Strategy. Each project within the Strategy has been set up on a web-based programme Project Vision which can be accessed by Board Members and people involved in carrying out the tasks under each project.
The 10 year County Development Board Strategy has nineteen topic areas covering areas from Enterprise Development to Infrastructure to Social Issues such as Marginalised Men, Marginalised Women and Cultural Areas like Arts and Sports. Each of these sections has a number of projects with objectives, actions and stakeholders. The 10 year Strategy of each City/County Development Boards were reviewed in 2006 at the request of the Department of Environment, Heritage and Local Government. A Review and Action Plan 2006 -2008 was published a the end of 2005. This Action Plan has a smaller number of projects with more detailed actions and timeframes than were contained in the original 10 year Strategy.
There are Three Working Groups as follows:
Economic Development
Social Inclusion Measures (SIMS)
Cultural Development
These working groups meet on average four times a year to:
Monitor Progress of projects within their sector.
To Coordinate their activities.
To identify new areas to work together on.
At the end of the year progress reports from each sector are included in the Annual Report which is available to be downloaded.
