Local Authority Loans for House Reconstruction are available subject to certain criteria set nationally by the Department. Section 40 of the Housing Act, 1966, provides for the reconstruction or repair of houses up to the cost of €38,000, where the loan is secured by mortgage on the house, and €15,000, where the loan is not secured. These loans are available at a variable interest rate.
