SUBJECT TO THE AVAILABILITY OF FUNDING, Leitrim County Council offers grant aid to groups or organisations, which in the opinion of the authority -
- stimulate public interest in the arts,
- promote the knowledge, appreciation and practice of the arts or
- assist in improving the standards of the arts.
In this Act the arts are defined as any creative or interpretative expression (whether traditional or contemporary) in whatever form, and includes, in particular, visual arts, theatre, literature, music, dance, opera, circus, film and architecture, and includes any medium which is used for those purposes.
Organisation who this may apply to include -
- Arts Organisations - Organisations, including venues, whose principal purpose is the hosting of arts events and activities.
- Arts Festivals - Festivals whose principal purpose and programme is the hosting of arts events and activities.
The Arts Office also advises other community and voluntary organisations in the development of arts programmes and preperation of applications to other funding bodies. The include -
- Community and Voluntary Organisations – Organisations who host arts activities from time to time but whose principal purpose is not the arts
- Community Festivals - Festivals for which arts activities form part of a wider programme of events and activities
