Leitrim 1916-2016 Centenary Plan Launched in KiltyClogher

Cathaoirleach of Leitrim County Council Councillor John Mc Cartin launched 'THE LEITRIM 2016 PLAN' to commemorate the centenary of the 1916 Rising on Monday January 11th at the Community Centre, Kiltyclogher, Co. Leitrim, home of Seán Mac Diarmada , one  of the seven leaders of the Easter Rising of 1916 and signatory of the Proclamation of the Irish Republic.

Dr Martin Mansergh, Vice Chair of the National Centenary Advisory Group was in attendance along with members and staff of Leitrim County Council and members of the Houses of the Oireachtas, relatives of Sean Mac Diarmada and members of the public.

Also in Kiltyclogher the first meeting of Leitrim County Council for 2016 took place on Monday January 11th in the Community Centre to commemorate the centenary of the 1916 Rising.

Ireland 2016 is an ambitious and wide-ranging national initiative to commemorate 1916 and as part of this 'THE LEITRIM 2016 PLAN' is a year-long programme of activity, in which everyone is invited to participate, to commemorate the events of the 1916 Rising.
