Social Farming Launched as part of Leitrim’s as Healthy Ireland Programme
On the 14th of September, Social Farming Ireland held a very successful and lively virtual launch for our latest report ‘Social Farming and Healthy Ireland’ which brought nearly 60 people together from all over the country.
The 2019-2021 Social Farming programme is funded through Healthy Ireland’s Community Mental Health Fund, supported by the Department of Health and delivered by the Leitrim Development Company.
The event was run from SoFI HQ in Drumshanbo, Co. Leitrim but we also connected with Minister Frank Feighan who was visiting Bradleys social farm in Newtowngore, Co. Leitrim and with our South West Regional Hub in West Limerick Resources in Newcastle West, Co. Limerick.
We also got to hear from farmers, participants and policy makers both live and through video and the enthusiasm and appreciation for what social farming has to offer, not least in the current context, was palpable.
A recording of the launch is available here while the report which was being launched is available here.
