Launch of PEACE IV Project Supporting Ethnic Minorities

Leitrim Development Company in conjunction with Leitrim Council County will launch the Ethnic Minority Project under the Peace IV Programme on Thursday 30th ofNovember in The Dock Exhibition Centre at 4.00pm. The PEACE IV programme is funded through the European Union, the Northern Ireland Executive and the Department of Housing, Planning, Community and Local Government with the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB) the managing authority with responsibility for the implementation and delivery of the PEACE IV programme.

One of objectives of the project is to foster a greater understanding and tolerance for all communities living in Leitrim. Also, to support the involvement and integration of ethnic minority groups, particularly new communities into the social and cultural life in Co. Leitrim.

The project will be delivered over the next sixteen months and will include intercultural events and a series of workshops such as community development, peace building, intercultural awareness, cultural understanding and strategic planning, to mention a few.

It will work closely with existing groups including the Leitrim International Community Group and the Leitrim Intercultural Forum.

Join us at The Dock for an exciting and interactive programme with music, poem, song and dance from different countries and enjoy a taste of international cuisine. There will also be activities for children including face painting and storytelling. Admission is free and open to everyone.
