SLR Film Development Project

SLR Film Development Project

Sligo, Leitrim and Roscommon County Councils work together with filmmakers from the three counties to enable the film sector here to grow and develop.

Each of the three local authorities involved in this project recognise the value of film as an artform and the contribution that film can make to the region - socially, culturally and economically. In adopting a regional approach, we recognise that we can achieve a lot more by harnessing the capacity, resources and energy of agencies and practitioners of all three counties.

Further information about the project can be found on www.slrfilm.eu and you can network with SLR member through the project Facebook page. While the website serves as the point of information for external film companies wishing to make films here, its primary focus will be to support filmmakers based in the three counties.

As part of that, for 2019, we are providing two bursary programmes for filmmakers based in Sligo, Leitrim or Roscommon.

Film Collaboration Bursary

As one of the principal aims of the project is to support the professional development of those working in the sector and to support the development of new work, this new bursary for a filmmaker and writer to collaborate in the development of a new project. The purpose of this is to encourage practitioners to work together and learn from each other and to seed the development of new ideas that may be made into films in the future. Concepts for film projects in any context or genre will be accepted.

Film Completion Award

This award is for an individual filmmaker or film company to apply for funding to complete a project already commenced. The purpose of this is to support the careers of ambitious filmmakers, particularly emerging filmmakers and to support work with a strong cultural or progressive impact and filmmaking that takes risks on talent, form and content, where the more commercial sector cannot.
